I will be taking my upselling concerns and "promises" to the Virginia Board of Funeral Directors.
When I indicated my displeasure to management nothing was not done. Repeated calls to management were not returned. When I finally tracked the general manager down my concerns were meet with an angry - who cares attitude - when are you sending payment? Payment is all they care about and that is how I was treated when I expressed my family and friends displeasure in the service and products we received - nothing more.
In your time of need this is not where to find it. The staff is sparse and most of the funeral "directors" are part time employees. The funeral director is much more interesting in selling you "stuff" you don't need when your are most vulnerable and not taking care of the family. Prices in "hind site" research are overpriced and during the "arrangement" process there is pressure to buy a "package" which is overpriced - many promises are made of how this is good for your loved one - but its just lines to up sell you. On the day of the funeral my director was not available, did not call to let us know we were being handed off and sent another director who did not know me have any past history of my family member nor really have any idea what was going on. VERY unprofessional and very poor in the situation. You cannot stop the funeral and have a do over!
My advice if you have a "loved" one pass away - do you and your family a favor and send them to somewhere other than Woody's Atlee Chapel.
